L'Xotic SL Drive est une pédale de distorsion du genre "marshall in a box". Elle vous permet de recréer le son des mythiques Marshall Super Lead et Super Bass 1959 dans un format ultra compact. La quintessence du son British popularisée par Jimmy Page, Paul Kossoff et de nombreux autres.
Format mini, PCB et fabrication de qualité, elle est taillée pour le studio et la scène. Branchée sur un pur canal clean, on apprécie immédiatement le silence de celle-ci, même avec le gain à fond, preuve du soin apporté à sa fabrication et conception. Les contrôles sont on ne peut plus intuitifs: Volume, Tone, Drive + des dip switches internes pour ajuster le gain et les fréquences. Les Paul en main, on attaque tout à 12:00 en mode Super Lead: un bas légèrement en retrait, un haut médium appuyé, Marshall oblige, c’est haut perché, assez brillant, typique plexi avec ce petit coté sparkly dans le tout haut du spectre. C'est riche et dense avec une attaque punchy. En poussant le gain à fond, on récupère des d’harmoniques qui fusent. Le potard tone est totalement exploitable sur toute sa course. En le poussant à 15:00 avec un clean boost stacké, on attaque le registre EVH sans problème.
On switch sur le mode Super Bass, le grain se fait plus dense, avec juste ce qu’il faut de compression. C’est fluide, ça claque sans être agressif avec un bas plus appuyé et des aigus plus doux. Comme indiqué plus haut, le rapport signal bruit est vraiment excellent, surtout pour une pédale de ce format.
L'Xotic SL Drive est un excellent Marshall in a box à travailler au corps avec un léger compresseur et un boost pour les plus énervés d’entre vous. La fabrication est au top et le rapport qualité prix imparable.
