Every time a Two-Rock amp comes out, it's a small event. For what? Because over the last 15 years, the Californian brand has only surprised us with each new release. Quality, consistency, pleasure for the ears and exceptional amps: the brand is consistent and does not deviate. This Vintage Deluxe follows the release of the very exclusive Joey Landreth Signature. 6L6 base, GZ34 grinder to provide dynamics, 35W, equipped with a tremolo directly inspired by the JL model, the Vintage Deluxe is a clean platform that combines modern design and updated vintage sounds.
On the front panel, classic, with a Master, Gain, 3-band EQ and a Presence control. We can interact with the Reverb and the Bias Tremolo via their respective buttons. Very important, the 4 mini-toggle switches: Texture, Bright, Tremolo and Tone Stack. The Texture switch is of paramount importance as it allows you to drastically modify the character of the amp. At the bottom, a softer attack and slightly recessed mids, at the top maximum headroom and a very fast response. The Tone Stack switch allows you to bypass the EQ and benefit from a midrange and volume boost that can be controlled with the level on the back of the amp. Ideal for getting through the mix temporarily.
Connected to a Stratocaster with almost everything at 12:00, the Vintage Deluxe is somewhere between the old Studio Pro which had an extremely round and dense voicing, and a Traditional Clean which benefits from a more direct attack and mids featured (AKA J. Mayer) with lots of headroom. The first thing you notice is the relentless beauty of every note that comes out of this amp. Each note has a weight and density rarely seen. It’s a clever blend of mellow, with notes that crash and bounce; and ultra-fast response, as they bend under your pick with exceptional dynamics and smoothness. Rarely have we been so excited about an amp. Vintage Deluxe is purely addictive and it's extremely difficult to go back to anything else after trying it. The EQ is extremely effective, the bright switch is ultra musical and allows you to brighten up a Les Paul that is too dark. The Bias Tremolo is a model of its kind, just magnificent. As for the Reverb, without being intrusive, it is a model of its kind.
So why a Vintage Deluxe? Well, if you are a "pedal aficionado", it will be extremely difficult to find better. It transcends your pedals and you rediscover them over the hours you spend playing it. Also, you are fans of very beautiful clean sounds, in various registers ranging from Jazz, to Blues, including Dream Theater-style cleans, sparkly and glassy. It offers incredible versatility. Finally, you are demanding, you look for what is there. better and already have some experience? You will be impressed by the perfection that emerges from the Two-Rock Vintage Deluxe. He is literally, dazzling.
Yes, it's a nice budget, but we guarantee that it's better to invest in the amp of a lifetime that will cover all your needs, rather than spreading yourself too thin and it also costs you (or more) dearly. ! A must. Well done!
