With the Leviathan, RedSeven opens the gates to hell on earth. Here, we are not in the lace, because we are dealing with the king of High-Gain. The RedSeven Leviathan is the new benchmark, the new standard for those looking for true guitar cruelty and all-destroying sound :-) Designed for those who need to go beyond the classic distortions found in most current amps (too straight, too dry or compressed), the Leviathan is 100% Metal and totally brutal. But, as there is always a little softness in this low world, it also allows, as we will see, great versatility!
For the construction, we are at the top of what is done in the genre. Very high quality PCB, ultra-selected components, custom transformers made in Italy. It's beautiful, well assembled, the knobs are firm, their travel very progressive... in short, you will have understood that the Leviathan is a bulldozer both outside and inside.
The front panel is rather airy for an amp of this type: 3-band EQ, Gain and Volume per channel. Classic. 2 Master volumes, 2 Bright switches and the switch to change channels. On the back side: the HP outputs, the loop, the MIDI connector and a line output with a dedicated volume. So!
Connected to a cabinet mounted in V30 and 12-65, we attack the clean channel. To everyone's surprise, it's twangy! Yes, who would have believed it? It saturates fairly quickly depending on the output level of your microphones, it's clear, articulated without being stiff. On the contrary, one has a soft and at the same time very percussive attack which goes to the top, as well with single coils as with big EMG which sends. By activating the bright switch we obtain very Hendrix sounds. It twists, it's super dynamic and it sounds like nothing else. The Leviathan clearly has its own sonic signature.
By activating the Hot switch, we pass on a Plexi register pushed with a superb articulation. All notes sound distinct, even on complex chords and with massive gain. Blues, ACDC, Guns, Hard FM, you can play everything as this channel 1 is so versatile. In a word: Impressive!
We go to channel 2, with a Depth at 12:00, a Presence at 15:00 and an almost flat EQ. Powwwa! Fans of Soldano, Rectifier and other massive amps, here is the boss of the genre! Astronomical gain, ultra thick grain, harmonics that fuse, and a separation of notes to die for. Even with a gain of horsepower, the Leviathan remains perfectly audible, compressed just enough without - tunneling - the whole thing. All this with an attack to wake up marmots in winter! It is enormous. Les Paul and Tom Anderson SSH plugged into it, it's a perfectly controlled bulldozer that can be integrated into a complex MIDI configuration to be triggered remotely.
As you will have understood, the RedSeven Leviathan is a big slap in the face of all reference high-gain amps. Cherry on top of the cake, it doesn't buzz, it's optimized and designed to last. Hat!
