With this superb Stratocaster-like, MB Guitars offers us a breathtaking replica of the original '60 to '62 models.
This custom order model is entirely handcrafted by Mike Bowes. Here, there are no digital machines; the processes are identical to those of the era, with maximum manual work.
As for the wood species used, they are ultra-selected to make perfect replicas. Weight, appearance, drying – nothing is left to chance. The Indian rosewood fingerboards (250 years old) are treated to achieve the same look as the original Brazilian rosewood. It's almost indistinguishable.
The cellulose finishes are extremely refined for maximum finesse and a touch and look totally similar to vintage models.
As for attention to detail, it is simply extraordinary.
- Mounting plate identical to vintage 1960s models
- Hand-dressed frets, slots cut with a hand saw
- Hardware and knobs perfectly reproduced. Even the screws and holes made in the pickguards are identical to those of the era.
- Pickguards made entirely by hand, just like back then, with discoloration and deformations
- Alan Dingwall pickups perfectly reproducing all playing nuances. Mellowness, twang, and warmth are present with that characteristic "bloomy" attack and a precise bridge pickup, without being aggressive.
Mike Bowes' guitars are true "forger's" guitars. All the magic of the guitars of the era is present in his creations. The sound, the playing feel, the look. You'd think you were there!
