At Guitars Rebellion, we love things that are organic, we love things that sound rich, like an amp channel. Here, no cardboard compression, no slender drive. The C3H5N3O9 benefits from 7 diodes to give it foundation, density and complexity.
Let's start at the beginning, the chassis. Long story short, it's a killer. no more no less. The finish is magnificent, the attention to detail is rarely seen for a product of this type (a pedal), everything is handmade, it's light, super well insulated and it hits the pedalboard once.
Inside, it gets tough for the competition. It's simple, it's the best and it's beautiful. Yes, it's beautiful to look at it's so well done. Quality OPamp, Amtrans AMRG resistors (1% tolerance, non-magnetic, brass tips, gold-plated oxygen-free copper outputs...), oversized Jantzen Audio capacitor, JFET input stage based on Texas instrument opamp, top PCB, etc... 4 buttons: Volume, Drive, Treble, Bass, 9VDC power supply. Let's go for the test session!
Connected with a Les Paul on a Two-Rock Traditional, all at 12:00, we obtain a very warm drive with a big dynamic and a little "crisp" side in the very pleasant bottom. The mids are slightly scooped and the top of the spectrum is very soft, very fluid. There is a nice halo rich in harmonics around the drive which allows for a lot of fluidity even with reduced gain. But it's by pushing the gain and the formidable EQ a little that we love the Nitroglycerin. Because indeed, it becomes literally explosive as soon as you start pushing it. It cuts through the mix, it stacks superbly with another pedal thanks to its superb transparency (you can also hear it in this configuration on our excellent video). It retains articulation and dynamics whatever the configuration. No hard compression here, the pedal offers very open tones and will deliver all its quintessence with a little TS-like on the back (for those who would like to push it even further).
