A revamped and updated version of the Silky Comp, the Free The Tone Silky Groove SG-1C is a high-flying compressor. it takes up the sound signature of its predecessor by offering even more features.
Externally the pedal adopts the same type of casing as the rest of the range, namely, a very light casing and pleasant to the touch, with an anodized finish and a vanilla color dress. It does it! It is also manufactured, exceptionally, in Iwate prefecture and not in Yokohama, in order to support the local economy which suffered greatly following the events of 2011. We will appreciate the gesture!
On the front, there is a Level knob to adjust the output level. A Mix which allows to blend the dry signal and the compressed signal. Sustain adjusts the depth of the compression and Attack adjusts the dynamics by compensating for the tunneling effect that the compressors bring.
Finally, let's remember, it's a Free The Tone, which means a completely original circuit developed from A to Z by the brand. No, it's not yet another lambda clone, but an original creation, as always with the Japanese brand.
During the development of the Silky Groove, the brand paid particular attention to the way the dry signal and the compressed signal are mixed so that this balance is as natural as possible. This allows a very fast response and very dense notes. This put in parallel with the button Attack really allows to measure the dynamics of the effect where many compressors have a tendency to crush everything. This allows you to use the Silky Groove in many, many configurations. You can use it as a clean boost, limiter, compressor, sustainer and adjust the presence of the effect depending on the chosen use. This, all in finesse.
The pedal also embeds the HTS system, a premium buffer to maintain and consolidate your signal without distorting your signal.
