CU-5050 | High-End Solderless Cable for Pedalboard Wiring

The CU-5050 is Free The Tone's high-end solderless cable, designed for use with the SL-5 plug series. Its development around a 5mm diameter presented a technical challenge: a cable that is too rigid at this diameter can apply mechanical stress to connection points and lead to breakage over time. Free The Tone developed specific internal solutions to minimize these stresses and guarantee long-term durability. The result is a 5mm cable that remains easy to handle, flexible, and built to last. Made in Japan.

The CU-5050 is built with 50 strands of 0.08mm oxygen-free copper (OFC), for a total conductor cross-section of 0.25mm². This multi-strand architecture gives it greater flexibility than its diameter might suggest. Its high-density braided shield provides near-immunity to external electromagnetic interference, an advantage in complex setups with multiple potential noise sources.

The CU-5050 delivers a warm and precise sound that transmits every nuance of the playing. Its frequency range is reinforced in the lower end of the spectrum compared to the CU-416: low end and low-mids more present. It eliminates parasitic electrical noise picked up by pickups while preserving the full character of the instrument. It is the cable for bassists and guitarists looking for a very dense sound.

The CU-5050 paired with SL-5 plugs suits musicians who want more presence in the lower frequency range and increased solidity for use without a fixed pedalboard. For a more neutral sound and ultra-compact wiring, the CU-416 cable paired with SL-4 plugs is the right choice.
