Based on an MN3007 bucket brigade and totally analog design, the Diamond Vibrato VIB-1 gives you a real Vibrato effect. That is to say, a pitch modulation rather than an amplitude modulation, commonly (wrongly) called vibrato but which is in fact a tremolo. The VIB1 is packed with thoughtful features that make it totally unique. For example, it's a vibrato, but since it allows a variable dry signal to be mixed with the pitched signal, it can also be transformed into a magnificent chorus! Come on, let's go around the owner.
Externally, the brand has chosen to adopt a medium-sized case. The chassis is finished to perfection, the metallic paint is of the most beautiful effect. At the controls, there is a Volume knob for the output level. Chorus which adjusts the dry/wet signal ratio. Depth which controls the intensity of the modulation and Speed its speed. There are also 2 toggle switches: Jazz, for a more Vintage sound with a lower end of the spectrum and High to accentuate the Pitch effect. You can also control the Speed and Depth via an expression pedal.
Plugged in, the Diamond Vibrato surprises with its almost absolute silence. Indeed, most modulation pedals generate more or less breath in use, but not the VB1. The controls are very progressive, musical and usable over the entire range. We are on a "pro" design and it shows. The effect in Chorus mode is enveloping, rich and retains all the original dynamics. Your dry signal is not compressed or altered at any time. The pedal does not tunnel your sound. In Vibrato mode, the pitch variations are ultra fluid, progressive, natural. Here, nothing caricatural and always this sound purity while having a beautiful very personal and affirmed coloring. From the most subtle to the most psychedelic, the effect adapts to your needs and not the other way around. The pedal operates at 15VDC, it has a spare headroom TONE and that's what makes all the difference. The dynamics, the clarity of the effect, the attack modulations.
