The Caveman Audio BUF1 Dual is the "perfect" high impedance input buffer, designed to provide a completely transparent buffering solution to ensure consistent sound and the lowest possible signal loss. A rule of thumb: A high impedance signal is very sensitive to the resistance or load it sees. A low impedance signal is not. Most guitars and basses usually have a high impedance output. The need for a buffer is therefore essential, otherwise you will lose and distort an important part of your signal and therefore of your sound.
The Caveman Audio BUF1 Dual Buffer features a bulletproof chassis and an ultra high quality PCB. It has a single foot-switch that allows you to mute the signal and activate the isolated output dedicated to the tuner.
On the rear side, there are: 1 input, 1 output and a loop (send / return). How it works? It's very simple: you plug your guitar into the input, the amp into the output and you insert your entire effect chain into the loop. You then have an input and output buffer and your effects between the two, which allows you to match the input and output impedances.
The first buffer converts your high impedance signal to a low impedance signal, allowing it to drive pedals without a change in sound or additional noise. BUF1 is a unity-gain buffer. The second buffer (output) leads your signal to your amp without any loss. Again, there is no sound change or noise added to the original signal. It is simply consolidated in the best possible way.
The BUF1 has a unique RFI protection. All ¼" jack connectors are gold plated and all internal wiring uses high quality shielded audio cable with minimal DC resistance and capacitance.
