The Axess Electronics OBViouS Boost-Overdrive is one of those pedals that can do you an absolutely incalculable number of services. Indeed, the OBViouS is a pedal that allows you to sculpt the sound of your amp and magnify it.

On the program, the usual Volume and Gain controls, a Treble control (treble) and 2 mini-toggle switches which respectively control the type of clipping and the bottom of the spectrum.
The OBViouS ™ Boost / Overdrive is an ultra-transparent low gain pedal that can simulate the sound signature of the Marshall® JMP Plexi and 1987/X. Two possibilities:
- Use it as a boost to add density to your sound and attack the amp to make it twist by adding an extra gain stage.
- Use it as an overdrive to achieve bluesy sounds like Robben Ford, Matt Schofield or Joey Landreth, the latter using the pedal in his setup.
In both cases, the dynamics are just exceptional. The OBViouS is ultra transparent, dense and adjustable as desired. The controls are of a rare musicality, we could adjust it anyhow, it would still sound. We particularly appreciated the stacker being on a clean channel with a drive at 1:00 p.m. and a Level at 12:00 p.m. to recover a kind of very very fat clean boost and to give body to the amp. Also, on an overdriven channel, with a little more pronounced clipping to switch the channel to something much smoother, with sustain and more harmonic content.
