The Dirty Diablo Dual was born from a "fun project" at OKKO: the classic Diablo, boosted. Same architectural base, same artisanal manufacturing in Leipzig since 2003, but a revised voicing for a dirtier register, more gain, more immediate impact. Not an alternative to the standard Diablo: a version pushed further, which fully embraces its uncompromising character. The Raw Black version translates this spirit into the design: a raw, grey aluminum casing, unpainted, with black silkscreen printing and black knobs. A look that sharply contrasts with the flashy orange we all know. The orange status LED, however, is still there. And it pops.

The architecture remains that of the 2018 Diablo Dual: two channels with independent Level and Drive, to manage two distinct gain levels from a single enclosure. The EQ section is shared between the two channels and brings together the three flagship controls of the range. Tone manages the general equalization in a classic way. Feed acts as a contour on the lower spectrum: by turning right, you add thickness and a more "boomy" rendering depending on the configuration. Body controls the general compression, a parameter quite rare on a pedal of this type, which reproduces the behavior of a naturally compressed amp when pushed to its limits. Two mini switches allow boosting the mids and modulating the available gain stages. The rotary Dyn knob varies the internal voltage from 6 to 18V: at the lowest setting, the sound is mellow and compressed with muted highs. At the highest, the lows tighten, the mids open up, and the headroom increases. Entirely handcrafted in OKKO's workshops in Leipzig, with the same high-end components as on the standard range.

With a Superstrat in hand on a quality clean channel, the Dirty Diablo's character immediately stands out: more compression than the standard Diablo, but with great openness and a true brilliance in the upper spectrum that allows it to cut through the mix. This presence in the highs is a concrete asset: it allows you to get the most out of the mini switches by boosting the mids without losing clarity, and to precisely act on the input knob to dial in the gain at the input. The Body is the control not to be overlooked: it adds compression and density in a very organic way, and when you push it, it packs a punch! The pedal works on any amp without requiring any particular configuration, which has been OKKO's signature from the beginning. The range of use is wide: from a light crunch that cleans up nicely with the guitar's volume knob, to a well-defined distortion for hard rock. Very versatile, very direct.
