The KarDiaN Nitroglycerin M6 is a limited series of 300 copies, based on the C3H5N3O9 and carefully upgraded. The M6 is a versatile overdrive/distortion pedal. Imagine a 1964's Fender Super Reverb Pre-CBS on steroids? This is what KarDian offers you with this superb “so amp like” drive. Usually, most ODs on the market sound... like pedals! At Guitars Rebellion, we like what's organic, we love what sounds rich, like an amp channel. Here, no cardboard compression, no slender drive. The Nitroglycerin M6 benefits from a high quality OP Amp to give it foundation, density and complexity.
Let's start at the beginning, the chassis. Let's keep it short, it's killer. no more no less. The finish is magnificent, the attention to detail is rarely seen for a product of this type (a pedal), everything is handmade, it's light, super well insulated and it hits once on the pedalboard.
Inside, things are getting tougher for the competition. It's simple, it's the best and it's beautiful. Yes, it’s beautiful to look at, it’s so well done. Quality OPamp, Amtrans AMRG resistors (1% tolerance, non-magnetic, brass tips, gold-plated oxygen-free copper outputs...), oversized SoZo NexGen Blue Molded Vintage capacitor, an input stage JFET based on the OP Amp Analog Devices OP275 , top PCB, etc... 4 buttons: Volume, Drive, Treble, Bass, 9VDC power supply. Connected with a Les Paul on a Two-Rock Traditional, all at 12:00, we obtain a very warm drive with a big dynamic and a little "crisp" side in the very pleasant bottom. The mids are slightly scooped and the top of the spectrum is very soft, very fluid. Like a Fender actually? There is a nice halo rich in harmonics around the drive which allows for a lot of fluidity even with reduced gain. But it's by pushing the gain a little and the formidable EQ that we love the Nitroglycerin. Because in fact, it literally becomes explosive as soon as you start pushing it. It cuts through the mix, it stacks superbly with another pedal thanks to its superb transparency . It maintains articulation and dynamics whatever the configuration. No harsh compression here, the pedal offers very open sounds and will deliver all its quintessence with a little TS-like sound behind it (for those who would like to push it even further). Compared to the C3H5N3O9 version, it benefits from a slightly rounder low end and a slightly increased gain level.
