The SL-21DCL is Free The Tone's solderless DC jack plug, developed over a long R&D period to deliver high usability, safety, and durability. It extends the brand's solderless approach to power supply wiring: DC cables are made to the exact desired length, without any soldering, using the same CU-416 cable as the SL audio plug series.
The SL-21DCL features a unique dual structure developed by Free The Tone that serves two functions simultaneously: keeping the retaining screw in place and ensuring electrical insulation of the connector. The cap and body are made of nonconducting plastic with a metallic look. This material choice is a safety decision: the connector can come into contact with other plugs on the pedalboard without any risk of short circuit, exactly like a standard molded plastic DC cable. Assembly follows the same principle as the SL audio plug series: the CU-416 cable is cut to the desired length with standard wire cutters, inserted into the plug, and the screw is tightened. Precise, reusable DC cables made in minutes.
Like audio signal cables, DC power supply cables have a direct influence on sound. Using the CU-416 cable for power supply lines, its shielding blocks external electromagnetic interference and its very low resistance minimizes transmission loss. Effects are powered without stress, with stable voltage from the power supply to the pedal. The flexibility of the CU-416 makes routing inside compact pedalboards straightforward.
The SL-21DCL is for guitarists who want to take the solderless approach to its logical conclusion: audio wiring and DC power with the same cable, the same technology, the same level of care. It is the natural complement to the SL-4 plugs for a pedalboard fully organized in CU-416.
