Regarding the controls, there is a Volume to adjust the output level of the effect. Regen which sends part of the signal back to the circuit input to generate frequency peaks which modify the character of the effect. Depth allows to act on the depth and Speed on the speed of the effect. 2 mini toggle switches offer you two Phaser modes 2 and 6 stages, and a "100% Wet" Vibrato mode for smooth pulsations. Finally, an expression pedal can be connected to control the Speed on the fly.
Connected, we start with the Phaser 2 Stage mode. This produces a very lush, very "watery" phaser effect, with a dense but very fluid curve, which retains all the complexity of your original signal, without too much of the gradient as many effects of the genre can do. effect engaged we keep dynamics and headroom, it never tunnels your signal. The controls are ultra-responsive and the settings very musical, whatever the configuration. By switching to 6-stage mode, the effect becomes deeper, more dramatic, with a more aggressive curve, typical of 70's sounds of the genre. The circuit is 100% analog, and it shows. It's warm, ample, very detailed. The phase can be subtle or very pronounced and psychedelic by pushing the Speed.
The Vibrato mode allows the dry signal to come out of the circuit by highlighting the color of the effect. It generates a soft and fluid wave.
Big highlight of the Diamond Phase PHS-1, it can output in stereo, with an output that sends the mixed effect, and a DIR output that allows you to send your buffered signal to a second amp.
In the end, we have a superb Phaser at the tip of our feet. This respects the original dynamics of your signal and retains all its particularities by adding a magnificent 100% analog effect that will work wonders on a clean sound as well as on an edgy fuzz.
