In tribute to one of the last true icons of real rock'n'roll and the lifestyle that went with it, OKKO presents the Motörbass. You all know Lemmy's signature sound: a bulldozer bass tone, ultra-powerful, distorted, slightly blurry yet with plenty of cut and definition for otherworldly power chords. That's exactly what OKKO delivers in this compact, elegantly built enclosure. You might think it's a bold claim to say you could get anywhere near the sound of a Marshall Super Bass stack with a 9V-powered pedal... but that's to underestimate our friend Heiko, who through painstaking refinement managed to capture the essence of this mythical sonic signature.
The enclosure is small and the pedal lightweight, bassists will appreciate that. The interface couldn't be simpler: three knobs. Faster controls the gain, from nearly clean to full blast. Harder is the tone control: set low, the response is essentially flat; turned up, it adds mids and treble. Louder handles the output volume. The pedal runs on a 9V battery or a 9V DC adapter (2.1mm jack, negative center), with an internal charge pump that brings the voltage up to 24V for maximum headroom and dynamics. High-quality PCB, selected components, True Bypass. This is OKKO: it works, it's reliable and it's superbly built.
Once plugged in, there's no doubt, OKKO has done its homework. One word: MASSIVE. The Motörbass doesn't suffer from the shortcomings of many bass distortions, which lose precision and lack attack. Guitar-oriented pedals, on the other hand, tend to be light on low end and sound thin. The Motörbass is a 30-tonne truck in full descent: the attack is explosive, the Harder knob is remarkably effective and adds bite and definition even at high gain settings. The pedal cuts through the mix without ever getting muddy, while retaining that distinctive "halo" around the sound that defines the great man's sonic signature. In short, the Motörbass is a proper slap in the ears for your audience.
With this remarkable Motörbass, OKKO delivers a superb pedal aimed squarely at bassists. It's not only the closest thing available to recreating that legendary tone, it's also a genuinely great distortion pedal in every sense. With its unique character and entirely original circuit, it's a complete success that we wholeheartedly recommend to all fans of hard rock and big sound.
