With this superb Telecaster-like guitar, MB Guitars offers us a breathtaking replica of an original '52 model.
This custom order model is entirely handmade by Mike Bowes. Here, there are no digital machines; the processes are identical to those of the era, with manual labor pushed to the maximum.
Regarding the wood species used, these are ultra-selected to make perfect replicas. Weight, appearance, drying – nothing is left to chance. The maple fingerboard is treated to achieve the same look as a guitar over 50 years old, and it's almost impossible to tell the difference.
The cellulose finishes are extremely meticulously crafted for maximum finesse and a feel and look totally similar to vintage models.
As for attention to detail, it is simply extraordinary.
- Mounting plate identical to vintage 1950s models
- Hand-dressed frets, slots cut with a hand saw
- Hardware and knobs perfectly reproduced. Even the screws and holes made in the pickguards are identical to those of the era.
- Bakelite pickguard made entirely by hand, just like back then, with discoloration and deformations
- Alan Dingwall pickups perfectly reproducing all playing nuances. Mellowness, twang, and warmth are all there, with that characteristic "bloomy" attack and a precise bridge pickup, without being aggressive.
Mike Bowes' guitars are true "forger's" guitars. All the magic of the guitars of that era is present in his creations. The sound, the playing sensations, the look. You'd think you were there!
